| BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR PERSONNEL ASSIGNED AS DRIVERS |

| In accordance with Regulation 6l-7, Emergency Medical Services, Section 403(A)(1) Have a criminal background check required on initial hire and thereafter every four (4) years which meets the same requirements as certified EMS personnel as noted in Section 902.8; personnel listed as Drivers on an Agency roster must meet the identical background check requirements as credentialed EMT's. There has been considerable confusion during the past year as drivers and agencies have moved through this process. In an attempt to alleviate confusion, provide some cost savings, and provide faster tumaround for driver approval, the following steps are being implemented and/or exempted. See memo for more info. |
